Abstract
One hundred-seventy electrocardiograms obtained from 105 cases of Korean hemorrhagic fever were analyzed and the data were reviewed by the stage of the illness, serum creatinine and potassium levels. The tracings were abnormal in nearly all cases- and the cardinal abnormalities were Q-T interval prolongation, sinus bradycardia, tallpeaked T waves, ST, T changes, P-R interval prolongation and intraventricular conduction defect in the decreasing order of frequency. The incidences of tall peaked T waves, ST, T changes and intraventricular conduction disturbance were higher during the oliguric stage, whereas sinus bradycardia was more common during the diuretic stage. The Q-T interval prolongation, which was noted in over 70 per cent of the cases, appeared during the oliguric state and persisted until diuretic state in the majority of the cases, but the time of appearance and disappearance of the remaining cardinal findings were inconstant. The incidence of tall peaked T waves was higher in those with hyperkalemia as expected, but that of the remainder was not closely related to the levels of serum creatinine or potassium.
